An office cleanout inventory that keeps the right things in place

Start with a room-by-room list. Mark each item keep, transfer, remove or decide later, and assign one person to settle the undecided pile before pickup day.

Start with ownership, not weight

A desk may belong to a landlord, a leased equipment provider or a team member. Record the owner before labeling it for removal. Keep confidential files and data-bearing devices in a separate stream under your company’s records policy.

Make the list useful to the removal crew

For each room, count desks, task chairs, storage pieces and unusually heavy items. Add dimensions for large tables and cabinets. A short list with accurate counts helps more than a photo of an entire floor.

Check the route

Identify the service elevator, loading space, door width and any building access window. Keep paths clear during the project. OSHA advises adequate clearance through aisles and at loading docks.

A quick final check

Walk the space once with a person who can authorize removal. Match the marked pieces to the inventory, then keep any late exceptions out of the pickup area.
